A bit about me...
Hi, I'm Cassie, the maker behind Knots & Crosses!
As a lover of all things creative, I have always been drawn to patterns and shapes, especially when it comes to geometric designs and the beauty of nature.
My love of cord, actually began when studying design at university, it was then that I discovered the joy of working with textiles. One of my early projects involved crafting giant loom knitted lamps, and that really set me on this unique path.
After university, I found myself working in an office for almost 15 years. While I enjoyed my job, the people I worked with and I did learn skills that I couldn't be without now (spreadsheet geek sorry!) I longed to return to my creative roots. So when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, I found myself in a position to take redundancy and turn my passion into a full-time business.
What I make
Have you noticed that I love colour?! Honestly, I have to restrain myself from buying all the yarn on offer – the temptation is real!
Anyway, there's something incredibly satisfying about transforming simple strands of yarn and rope into something beautiful and functional and that’s what Knots & Crosses is all about.
I specialize in creating unique crochet and macrame pieces, from cozy home decor to accessories. Everything is handmade and a whole lot of knots!
Sustainability
Sustainability is incredibly important to me - so I'm committed to using recycled cord in my work. All of the cord I use is Bobbiny cord and primarily their braided cords (in their fabulous curated range of colours). It's undyed, and is made from both textile production waste and used clothing so it helps reduce our impact on the planet.
All of the additional components I use are considered as well, and I will always try to use sustainable resources wherever possible.
